Ancient temples, village landscapes and the spiritual heart of central Bhutan.
About Bumthang
Bumthang is a group of broad valleys in central Bhutan with some of the country’s most important temples, monasteries and sacred stories. Reaching Bumthang takes more time than travelling in western Bhutan, but the slower pace and depth of cultural heritage make it especially rewarding.

Bumthang is best included in a longer Bhutan itinerary, particularly for travellers interested in Buddhism, traditional culture, village life and festivals.
